The thread through it all
People deserve room for the whole story.
Transitions can hold hope and uncertainty, relief and grief, excitement and worry. Leina’s work makes space for those mixed feelings while offering grounded ways to find the next step.
Clinical care
As Founder and Clinical Director of Lunghi Counseling Group in McLean, Virginia, Leina supports children, teens, adults, and families navigating anxiety, emotional regulation, adoption, divorce, military-connected moves, and school or family changes. The practice offers in-person and telehealth care.
Speaking & education
Leina creates practical presentations, workshops, group curricula, and parent education informed by cognitive behavioral, solution-focused, and strengths-based approaches. She has presented at professional, school, parent, and community events.
Professional background
Licensed as a Professional Counselor in Virginia and Georgia, Leina has worked in counseling since 2012. Her experience includes private practice, school-based mental health, adoption home-study work, and earlier roles in health education and the U.S. Navy.
Adoption & family transitions
Leina’s adoption-related work, including home-study practice since 2011, has shaped her understanding of the many feelings adoption can hold: hope, love, grief, uncertainty, identity, and belonging.
Her writing and professional education encourage thoughtful, nuanced support for adoptive families and the clinicians who walk alongside them. In July 2026, she published an article in the Virginia Mental Health Counselors Association newsletter about making room for the full adoption journey.
